Overview
This is the first of a series of articles that discusses some uses of the Ellipsys Trust Framework（ETF）for creating secure execution environments. ETF allows manufacturers to maintain control of products over their entire life-cycle, including：
‧ securing out-sourced manufacturing against unauthorized production runs, legitimate product stolen
from inventory, and other abuses in the manufacturing flow
‧ securing products against reverse engineer-ing and cloning
‧ securing the execution environment against unauthorized programs
‧ the ability to permanently disable products at end of life
This first article provides an overview of the framework and its components, and examines some real world applications for it.
Ellipsys Trust Framework is a set of tools for ASIC and embedded systems OEMs to build a trusted execution environment for their applications. The framework includes the Ellipsys-CA Certification Authority used in manufacturing and provisioning to provide signed firmware and device credentials, and the Ellipsys-SB Secure Bootstrap system for establishing the trustworthiness of the embedded application environment.
