FishTail Design Automation offers a unique approach to improving the chip design process by automatically generating golden timing constraints early in the design cycle. The breakthrough, patent-pending technology used in FishTail's Focus?product is based on extensions to the Ph.D. dissertation work originally done at The University of Michigan by Ajay Daga, the company's founder and CEO. The unique technical innovation is the ability to analyze the intended functionality of the chip based on its high-level, synthesizable description and then determine the false and multi-cycle paths without user-specified stimulus.

The potential market for Focus is huge, as any ASIC or FPGA designer will derive significant benefits from this product. The rate of adoption can be rapid, as Focus uses industry-standard data formats for all inputs and outputs and does not require modification of an engineer's existing design flow. FishTail's strategy is to form partnerships with major EDA vendors, as Focus is not competitive with their existing offerings. Focus simply makes their current EDA tools work better.
